Reader's Theatre

Over the past week we have been exploring Ancient Greek myths during our literacy sessions. The students had the opportunity to work in small groups to turn a myth into a script and present it in the form of reader's theatre. Here are some snap shots of the students presenting today!

"Anything Goes" - the Musical

Last week the children had the wonderful opportunity to visit Caroline Chisholm College where the students from Mount St Josephs Girls' College put on a performance of "Anything Goes". The girls did an amazing job on stage, as did all the people working behind the scenes. The 5/6 children had a great day with some already saying they want to be on stage when they get to high school!

First Aid Training

Today we had a visit from St John Ambulance Victoria. The children were taught how to give first aid in an emergency situation. They were even able to practise their compression technique on the dummies provided.

The children were very engaged and they will have brought home a link today where you can jump online and complete a quiz to test your knowledge of first aid.

What does a Cubic Metre look like?

This week we have been continuing our work on measurement, particularly focusing on volume. We thought it would be great if the children could visualise how much space a cubic metre really takes up.

We made the cube using metre rulers and then the children made predictions as to how many of them would be able to fit inside. With estimates of around 4 or 5, they were quite surprised when we were able to fit 9!

Helping the Preps with Mathletics

This week the preps came over to visit their Yr 6 Buddies to learn how to login and use the Mathletics program. The Yr 6's were very patient, helping the preps until they were able to login without any assistance. They then had fun completing some of the activities together.

Archbishop Hart

This morning we had the honour of Archbishop Hart visiting our Year 5/6 community.
He gave the students two wonderful messages to take away and implement within their life. The first was to remember to always be ourselves and the second is to remember that God loves us because we are all special.
The students asked some wonderful questions and made Father John, Mr Hyde and their teachers very proud.
