Archbishop Hart

This morning we had the honour of Archbishop Hart visiting our Year 5/6 community. 

He gave the students two wonderful messages to take away and implement within their life. The first was to remember to always be ourselves and the second is to remember that God loves us because we are all special. 

The students asked some wonderful questions and made Father John, Mr Hyde and their teachers very proud. 

 

 
 

 

Glee performance

The Glee Club prepared all morning for their big performance at today's assembly. They all sung beautifully. Great job guys!! 

 
 

 

Interschool Sport

Today the 5/6 Community went to Footscray North for Round 4 of Interschool Sport. The sun was shining and we had a great afternoon. The netball and football teams both secured a win, and the soccer and newcombe teams played really well too. 

 
 

 
 
 

 

The Budding Architects in 5/6

Over the past week, the students have been consolidating their understanding of perimeter and area. They have enjoyed completing a measurement challenge where they designed their "Dream House". They could include a pool, garden, tennis court and choose their own layout.

Mother's Day Baking

On Thursday and Friday this week, some of the children from our 5/6 Community were given the opportunity to find a recipe and bake for the Mother's Day afternoon tea. 

It was great to see how many aspiring bakers and chefs we have in 5/6. They all picked excellent recipes for all sorts of delicious treats. Here is a list of all the yummy things we baked:

- Choc Chip Cookies: Gabriella, Michael and Chanel 

- Apple Pies: Peter, Aidan and Quan

This term we have been learning about our place in space. We have been all assigned a planet and presented our research to the class this week. 

 

 

 

 

 

Limerick!!

We have been learning how to write humorous limericks in the Year 5/6 community. Here is a snippet of what we have come up with so far, written by Darcy. 

There once was a boy named Jack

His mama gave him a smack

He ran to his room

Came out with a broom

And then he got a big whack

Glee Club Performance

On Monday, the 5/6 girls from Glee Club performed "One Call Away", one of the songs they have been practising during our lunchtime rehearsals. We were very fortunate to have Miss Debbie join our group recently. Her beautiful piano playing brings a whole new element to our performance.
